About the fridge and pantry

Resources donated from patrons, community partners, and organizations can be found in our two fridges and two dry pantries. We are open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All are welcome. No need for income or residency verification. We do not check IDs. Patrons visit us from Mt. Airy, Cheltenham, Germantown, and even West Philadelphia. Anyone can drop off items or take items as they need.

Offerings change daily, so check back regularly! While we do what we can to stock the pantries and fridges ourselves, alongside the support of our partners, we look to involvement from the community to help fill the gap by keeping our neighborhood fed, healthy, and thriving!

Graciously hosted by the Unitarian Universalists of Mt. Airy, the Mount Airy Community Fridge & Pantry offers dry goods pantries with shelf-stable foods, menstrual and sexual health products, diapers, and baby food free to take by anyone who needs them. Our refrigerators and freezers offer perishable goods, homemade meals, drinks (no alcohol), snacks (think yogurt), and frozen dinners.

Put simply: take what you need, and leave what you can. You can find us in the covered alcove between the two entrances facing Stenton Ave.

For the health and safety of our community, if you donate items, we ask that you:

  • do not leave any items out,

  • please put items in the appropriate storage,

  • do not donate moldy, opened, or spoiled food,

  • put the type of food and made on/expiration date on homemade meals (consider those with food allergies)

  • leftovers cannot be previously directly eaten from, please put them in appropriate takeaway boxes with type of food and made on/expiration date,

  • leave the space clean, throwaway trash, put moldy items (fruits, vegetables, and bread) in the compost, and contact us if the space needs a good cleaning.
